The Gizmo Guide - April 2007

Owning a digital camera is a fantastic thing! You can take as many happy snaps as you like without having to worry about developing costs.

The biggest downside to owning a digital camera is that the pictures you take are usually downloaded onto your computer. In most cases this means your pictures are trapped in your study and destined to be seen only on a small computer screen. This makes it difficult to share your favourite images with your family and friends.

If you have Windows Vista, we have a solution to you! In this issue we show you how to use Windows DVD Maker to easily create a DVD of your favourite images and video clips which you can show on any television.

On another creative note, we asked our Gizmotechs what their Top 4 favourite websites were for downloading desktop wallpaper. Everyone with a computer has a desktop background so we hope you enjoy the results.

on the couch

This month we are on the couch with Brisbane Gizmotech, Brendan George.

What is your role at Gizmo?

I'm lucky enough to be a Mobile GizmoTech helping out our Brisbane customers.

What attracted you to the IT industry?

I'm always needing to figure out how things work and how to make them work better. There's plenty of that required in the IT industry. Plus, I'm the typical computer geek who loves to play a good game whenever possible... Sorry? What do you mean lunch was 3 hrs ago...?

What are your five favourite websites and why?
  1. www.google.com.au - THE Internet
  2. www.wikipedia.org - You can pretty much find out anything about everything, seriously.
  3. www.majorgeeks.com - If its some form of geeky tech tool, then its probably here.
  4. www.gizmo.com.au - What can I say? We have a great website.
  5. www.something.com - You wouldn't believe me if I told you what was here...or not here...

What do you never leave home without?

Other than my mobile (curse it) I can get by without most other things.

What is your dream holiday destination?

Ideally I'd love to go to the moon (which is looking more and more likely with space tourism), but if that doesn't count then I'd have to say China. I've heard there's a big wall or something there which I would love to see.

What are your interests outside work?

As per my techie habits I do enjoy computer games. When I'm not gaming, I do enjoy the odd bit of gardening, playing basketball and even cooking on rare occasion.

Finish this sentence. Working at Gizmo is…?

Absolutely awesome! Between the people, the work and our business culture - I'd have to say its my dream job come true!
